Dr Joseph Mercola is an alternative medicine proponent, osteopathic physician, and web entrepreneur who also operates the Dr. Mercola Natural Health Center in Schaumburg, Illinois. He wrote the best-selling books The No-Grain Diet (with Alison Rose Levy) and The Great Bird Flu Hoax.
Dr Mercola argues against over-consumption of sugar, especially high-fructose corn syrup, which is the predominant sweetener of many commercial sodas and soft drinks, and processed flour and grains, which the body rapidly converts into sugar, leading to weight gain and other conditions.
